Now compress that valve spring until it's shortened. Now to make things real easy measure the size of the sprin. Actually screw it in and make sure the threads feel clean. Drop only the nut down the tube and catch the threads. To make things easier when threading nut. Ok now did you make sure you cleaned the threading of any gunk and left over lead? Where exactly are you hearing air escaping from, does it sound like it's coming out the TP into the barrel? Or out the back pass wing nut? To test wing nut area if it's hard for you to distinguish drop oil down there and you will see it bubble. I'll reuse the lead on the valve nut if it looks good. That one if it looks like that I'll reuse. You can only really tell by getting a long piece of metal and tapping it. Are you reusing any of the old lead seals? I'd imagine both of the seals where lead? The front one you can't even tell its there cause it was sitting on the ledge.
